What made you choose this major?
I came into Carroll 犹豫不决 with an interest in psychology because I took AP psychology in high school and loved it! Then I took Philosophy 101 and loved that too, so the Philosophy, Politics and Economics (PPE) major was the route for me.
How has what you’ve learned prepared you for your future?
My PPE professors stress academic excellence and bringing an open, curious mind to everything I do. A strong work ethic and a willingness to look at things from different perspectives will serve me well in graduate school.
What opportunities have you had to work closely with a faculty member and what impact has that had on your education?
Over the past two years, I’ve gotten to work quite a bit with professor Dr. 莉莉她 in the political science department. Thanks to her connections, I was able to present a national conference.
What’s one unique experience you’ve had relating to the coursework for your major?
In Philosophy of 艺术 (PHI213), we’ve spent the last two weeks role-playing a reenactment of the 1889 world exposition in Paris. What an experience! Hearing fellow students voice the opinions of prominent artists from the time has really helped solidify the more abstract concepts about art and what it is that we’ve discussed in class. I’ve been in several other classes with assistant professor Dr. Massimo Rondolino in addition to PHI213 and they are always interesting!
How has Carroll enriched your growth as a person outside of the skills you’re learning in the classroom?
I’ve had the chance to not only double major, but pursue a minor in art. The art classes I’ve taken are a relaxing change from my major classes–plus, I’ve learned a lot in them. I also work at the public library in my town, and attend great Bible studies! So, yes, a Carroll student can be well-rounded while still completing their coursework.
If you were recommending your major to a prospective student, what would you tell them?
心理学 is a cornerstone for any career in which you need to understand people–so, 周围, it is extremely useful. PPE has a department full of outstanding, dedicated professors. Plus, PPE’s interdisciplinary nature gives you a strong base for a lot of different careers.
Why did you choose to attend Carroll University?
多亏了它 金融援助, Carroll has been very affordable (considering it is a private college). I have been very impressed by the PPE program, and I’ve gotten close with several of the professors I’ve had.
Is there anything else you’d like to share?
If it works with your schedule, do a 先驱威尼斯游戏大厅 study over the summer! This program, in my opinion, is where Carroll really shines. If you’re accepted, you work one-on-one with a faculty member on an academic focus of your choice–and you get paid! It’s such an amazing experience.
